Could you please introduce yourself?
I am Zach September, I am a 19 years old, and I am from South Africa.
What brought you to our agriturismo and glamping in Tuscany?
I came to Agriturismo Pereti as a Worldpacker volunteer. When I was looking for volunteer opportunities at the worldpackers website, I typed a keyword ITALY and looked at all opportunities to volunteer. A glamping in Tuscany caught my attention. It looked perfect and it was perfect.
What was it that stood out? Why did you choose our Tuscan glamping and agriturismo?
What I liked was the variety of accommodations, a combination of traditional and non traditional housing options, which was unique among all the places I looked at. I was also intrigued by the fact that food was provided as a part of this exchange. Last but not the least, Tuscany itself sounded very interesting.
What is it about glamping that attracted you?
Well, its incredible. Glamping is certainly much more comfortable than regular camping. It is easier to make oneself comfortable very quickly without a long learning curve. But the best thing for me was that I could really connect with the nature.
In your experience what is the difference between glamping and camping?
Camping is like grabbing a tent, burner, and a sleeping back, while being responsible basically for everything to make oneself comfortable. Glamping is still very much a part of the nature, but for someone like me, who is a city boy, glamping is much more comfortable and easier to jump into.
What makes our glamping in Tuscany different from other places? Why would someone want to come to Tuscany to experience glamping?
For me it is the views, which are very unique here. But the fact that we are in the middle of nature is fantastic. Sometimes you can see wild boar, there is an owl, which comes near the wheel house every night, foxes etc… That of course, apart from domestic animals like ducks, chickens, dog, cats…
Which of our Tuscan glamping structures you liked and why?
For me the most interesting was the vintage Wheel House, where I stayed, and which I think is unique among all glampings. What makes it unique is not only the structure, but also the mountain view from the entrance and the view of Roccatederighi from my bed window. Staying in the wheel house was exciting as I had to use my own hands to make myself comfortable. For instance, I had to make my fire in the stove every night to make myself warm, and I had to take a nature walk to get to my kitchen.
To whom would you recommend our glamping in Tuscany?
I would recommend this Tuscan glamping to anyone, but especially to beginner solo or couple travelers – whether they would be volunteering sand traveling in general. This is a very nice place with warm and kind hosts. The whole area is very comfortable, which of course is what glamping is about. To me it feels like a great entry point for travelers.
Which of the volunteering experiences at Pereti was most rewarding to you?
Definitely pruning the olive trees. There is a special connection, which one has to make with the tree. One has to learn about the tree and connect with sunlight and understand where the sun comes from and which branches need to be helped. Pruning was a like a great meditation. Sometimes, I played music during the work. Its difficult to explain, but I can say that I created a special connection with the trees.
Thank you, Zach! It was a pleasure hosting you at Agriturismo Pereti, our Tuscan glamping. I would like to add that you agreed to come back in January and continue your experience with us for another month. We look forward to your return.
