Camera Tepee

If you are a nature lover and like to be really immersed in pristine nature , the Indian tepee is a perfect choice. It is a structure with the lowest ecological impact among all our glamping accommodations. Not only there are only a handful of tepees among all Maremma glamping solutions, but few, if any are settled in such a beautiful location with a private view of a lake below and a spectacular medieval village above. The Pereti tepee is set in a very peaceful part of our property. From our tepee, there are truly fascinating panoramic views towards the west, so the sunset is perfect time to enjoy it.

The word tepee (also spelled tipi, or teepee) comes from the language of Lakota people of Northern America, and it means a dwelling. Its origins are difficult to track, but according to some archeological research, the tepee structures apparently originated as far as ten thousand years ago. They were used both as dwellings, as well as for ceremonial purposes. In fact, the tepee at Agriturismo Pereti was originally conceived as a place for ceremonies and meditation. Only after some years of its original use, when we built the Pereti Dome, we decided to convert the tepee to another sustainable glamping structure to give our guests more choices.

Our tepee is equipped with a solid and thick pinewood floor, and a queen size bed for two persons. However, another mattress, or possibly two can be added, for a glamping family experience. The tepee is a tent, and therefore it is not insulated, and there is no electricity. There is also no running water. However, it is precisely these elements, which allow for closer connection with the nature (By the way, you can always recharge your phone at the main building.)

For us, the word glamping is not only about comfortable lodging as an alternative to camping in Maremma, but even more so about a direct contact with the nature and wildlife. Since the tepee stands isolated on our property, animals sometimes arrive quite near. On occasion, you may hear sounds of wolves, which again arrived to our lands. Wild boars are also very common here, and so are “barking” deer, foxes, rabbits and porcupines. As far as bathrooms are concerned, there are three of them available. There is a The private bathroom (compost toilette) behind the tepee, plus there are two additional bathrooms. One is located at the center of the property, and another by the swimming pool.
