Camera Wheel House

Our original Gipsy Wheel House is a absolutely unique structure of this type among all Glamping accommodations in Maremma. We brought it from Praguewhere it once belonged to the famous Berousek circus company, whose ancestors sold it directly to us. Out Wheel house was built in 1950’s and survived in its original state until 2018 when we rescued it, sort of at the last minute, and began its complete renovation. For your comfort, we renovated the Carovana Gipsy with two layers of pine wood with added insulation. At the end of this eco house, we built a large king size bed and shelves. For families with children, we added one extra foldable bed and a large table with chairs as well as wooden cabinet. Another mattress can be added for families of four. You can relax also outside the wheel house where you find another table and chairs, as well as a large wooden platform with fascinating views.

Heating is provided by a small but efficient cast-iron wood stove, or an electric stove. Because the caravan is insulated, it can be used year-round. A comfortable temperature is reached within minutes even in the coldest months. The cost of wood and electricity is of course included in the price. Airconditioning is available in the summer months. There are two windows, both equipped with mosquito nets. When the windows are open, a gentle mountain breeze will give you a cool and comfortable sleep at night, even during the hot summer months. A private compost toilette is just behind the wheel house. The shared bathroom is equipped with toilets, sinks, showers, hairdryers, towels, and soap.

Guests particularly appreciate the cozy atmosphere inside this special glamping facility and its location away from the main building. The gypsy caravan offers beautiful views of the wooded valley and the medieval village of Roccatederighi. When you step outside, the view opens up and also allows you to enjoy splendid views of the Montemassi Dam. These types of wheelhouses were often used by circus troupes, but today they are increasingly popular with those seeking an alternative, environmentally friendly and sustainable way to spend their vacations. They served nomadic gypsies as a form of house on wheels that was relatively easy to move. In the past, these types of caravans were pulled by horses, later by tractors or other motorized vehicles.
