Yurt Luna
The Yurt Luna is another creation of love at Agriturismo Pereti. It has 5 meters in diameter, and it feels very warm and cozy. It is an ideal structure for a romantic escape, or a great idea for a gift. Airconditioning and riscaldamento We built the foundation, terrace and a private bathroom right here on the property, while the yurt itself was built by a dear friend according to our specifications. Sturdy chestnut wood poles were used for the foundation. All were planted in the ground by hand. To ensure stability and durability, all poles were carefully chosen and then burned to allow as little moisture as possible to enter. The support beams and floor are made of pine wood, the outdoor terrace of spruce. The yurt itself was made of pine and cypress wood with two beautiful chestnut window entrances. In fact, nearly all materials used for the construction are 100% natural.
Yurt Luna is more closely related to Mongolian ger, because its walls are only 170 cm tall. However, we decided to make the central crown opening in the ceiling larger to allow for more light to enter and to give one a possibility to view the night sky directly from the bed. Most of the furniture pieces were bult right here, including the bed, night tables and a coffee table. The new mattresses are carefully chosen to ensure your comfort. The private bathroom is just outside (water faucet, shower with hot water, compost toilet), while two other common bathrooms are also available; one in the centre of the property with wash basin, toilets and shower, and another by our salt water swimming pool.
The yurt Luna is separated from other structures and buildings at agriturismo Pereti to allow your complete privacy and silent nights of sleep. The yurt is equipped with a comfortable queen size bed, eiling light, two bed lights and fully automatic light outside.
The yurt Luna is located on a sloping hill with the lower part giving a sense of suspension. When you step outside on the deck, the olive trees will remain below you. Luna has stunning night views of the valley below and the medieval village of Roccatederighi above.
The history of yurt goes back thousands of years. The word yurt is actually Russian, and it comes to us as a variant of the original name “ger”. The ger or a yurt arrived to Europe from Asia, but most importantly from Mongolia where it has been used by nomadic people. It is a genial structure. Not only it is sturdy to withhold extremely strong winds of the Mongolian plains, but it is also built in a way to sustain comfort even in the subzero temperatures. It is also very practical since it can be put up in a matter of hours and moved from pasture to pasture quickly.
The yurt is a structure that is not only beautiful, but also symbolic. Its round form symbolizes mother Earth, and the entire universe. The beamed roof above is aiming to the opening at the centre (crown), which can be seen as Sun or portal to the worlds above.
